About Carrie

Greetings! My philosophy of teaching is rooted in the idea that young children learn in different ways and at different speeds. I first determine the background knowledge that a child has about a particular subject, and then create lessons based on that information. I consider the attention span of the child that I am working with, and pace lessons appropriately. Young children learn best through experiential methods, and I utilize differentiated approaches to provide children multiple opportunities to demonstrate their mastery of curriculum. I incorporate regular and authentic assessment to determine if a child is ready to move on a more difficult concept, or if remediation is necessary. Lastly, I collaborate with parents and caregivers to meet the academic and social-emotional needs of their children. I look forward to working closely with you to provide a solid foundation for your child prepares as he/she for the next school year!
