During summer of 2010 and 2011, I volunteered with my local park and recreation district. I helped children practice for Special Olympics bowling. Many of them were on the Autism spectrum. I was never informed of their exact diagnoses or cognitive disabilities, but they were severe indeed. Nothing compares to the feeling of helping someone who struggles to raise a special needs child. I enjoy helping people, and while I am also working part-time in retail, I may be available for some care giving work also.
