I am a graduate student at Rockhurst University studying to be a speech-language pathologist, looking for work as a part-time caregiver until I graduate in May. I have a flexible schedule, and lots of experience. My first experience working with children with special needs was with my younger brother, who is now 10 years old. He has epilepsy, as well as cognitive impairments. This is how I first became interested in working with children and adults with special needs, which I quickly grew to love! While I was attending KU, I was a babysitter for a family whose son had autism and was non-verbal. I have worked with children of all different ages with a wide variety of needs, including kids with autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and visual impairments. I have been a camp counselor for children with communication disorders, and completed clinical placements at a local elementary school and the Children's Center for the Visually Impaired. I love what I do, and know the challenges of having a child or family member with special needs.
