About Betty

I homeschooled my daughters for 24 years and consider those years the best years of my life. I taught K-3rd grade at TEACH homeschool co-op for 10 years. Also, I've worked as a reading tutor at Holsten Elementary School for 1st-2nd grade. Over the years, I have been employed as a teacher's aide, substitute teacher, tutor, and a mentor for college students. My heart and passion has always been about the children. I'm interested in starting a homeschool for K-2nd grade in my home 4 or 5 days a week. The curriculum I use is Christian based and character building; A-Beka and Bob are the curriculums used in the Christian schools in the area, such as Providence Academy and Tri-Cities Christian School. I have used both curricula with my own children, as well as other families with great success. My method of teaching is hands-on and nature based, similar to the Montessori method of education; I strive to connect with each child and do my best to help them excel and thrive.
