I am an inspiring 25-year-old music major in (vocal) at Fresno City College. A career goal that I have planned for is to be a certified music therapist. Therefore, it is a necessity to me to have skills in both music and health-related backgrounds. I grew up assisting my mother who cared for my older disabled brother. His diagnosis is cerebral palsy along with other health problems. It was because of him that I feel for those with special needs. Compassion is the essence of helping others. I believe that his life is to instill in me compassion. Therefore, that I should live my life to serve others whole-heartily. In 2012, I got my CNA license. The course was intense but I pulled through. I took this program to learn more proper techniques to better take care of my brother. The skills I have gained, I taught them to my siblings and parents in order for my brother to receive the best care. I am comfortable with changing, feeding, dressing, and transporting my brother and residents in and out from their wheelchair and/or beds. I have assisted in oral care, too.
