About Aster

I like working with kids because I love the ways their brains work, I feel that I get fresh perspectives on the world just as much as I teach them. I started working with kids when I was still a kid! I spent most days helping out with tutoring after school for the younger students. I babysat throughout middle school and high school. When I got to college I began volunteering at a literacy center with students ages 6-12. I got my degree in Secondary Education (grades 7-12) and became a high school teacher. I had to leave teaching, and I am current a rock climbing coach for climbers 4-10. In my spare time, I like to knit, embroider- generally make art with my hands! I also like to hangout with my friends, rock climbing and hiking especially. My skills include teaching (especially reading and writing), SEL (social emotional learning), and allowing space for child led exploration.
