My Dad has dealt with early stage dementia for a few years. My Mom has always said that if we lived near each other she would hire me to help with my Dad as I am good with him. I see what my Mother goes through as the primary caregiver and I realize the importance of respite for those people. I was recently hired locally to help an 89-year-old woman in assisted living who is on the verge of being moved to a nursing home. It gives me great joy to assist her with basic functions a few days a week to lessen the burden for her daughter each day. I am looking to provide care for another person as well on a regular basis. In addition to personal care, I am willing to run errands, go to doctor appointments, tidy up living space, and /just be there as a companion.
