I have worked in special needs classrooms in public schools for 3 years, with ages 3 years to age 16. I have changed the diapers of children from age 3 to 16 as well. I currently work in an elementary MD classroom. We have kids with CP, TBI, autism, a syndrome like Downes, etc. A few of the kids are tube fed, so I know how to tube feed. I also have 3 & 1/2 years experience as the lead teacher at a church in a special needs class and I have worked at daycare centers with children with special needs. Caring for children with special needs can be a challenge, but I enjoy a good challenge. Although the care can be a challenge, there are also so many rewards and successes that can come from helping children with special needs. And I think children with special needs are usually more fun to be around than regular children.
