After working in the advertising field for over 25 years, I needed to redirect my attention to the special needs of our family. I have a 16-year-old son on the spectrum and have extensive experience caring and advocating for him. I understand that our kids want to be like everyone else, and need to develop the social skills ( to the best of their abilities) to understand the expectation society has for them. I have learned the benefit of time and the understanding that my son does not need to be fixed but rather understood. With time and training things do come along and my problems and concerns are outgrown in time. I think it takes a village to raise any child and special needs children need more time and guidance then most.
