About who needs care: My mom has dementia and when she is in a bad phase she seems to have depression, her hearing is worse, she doesn't want to eat or take meds. She will sleep all day if I let her. Her diagnosis is complicated by grief. We lost my dad 3 years ago after he had surgery on his back. Her mind becomes very scattered when she is in a downswing. She is a very smart and strong woman who was in the Army where she met my dad. She worked for over 30 years. She and my dad were married 60 years. About the care needs: Mom loves meeting new people and likes to talk. There isn't anything special or unique . Just make her a sandwich and ice tea. She lives with me now and I need to spend time getting her house cleaned, painted, packed and ready to sell. And since we are selling it ourselves, then I will be meeting potential buyers at the house, handling paperwork I still need to send to the VA, and my own personal matters. I can't do it all by myself. I need a respite caregiver. I worked as a caregiver here more than years ago so I know the stress, but when it's your mom it is down right overwhelming. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
