About who needs care: Sharon has ataxia. A degeneration of the cerebellum. Affects all voluntary motor skills. She gets around the house in an electric wheelchair but needs help transferring. She can feed herself. About the care needs: She reads most of the day. Caregiver would need to prepare an evening meal and could eat with us every day. Person would need to be sensitive, observant, willing to do light housework and able to transfer Sharon to the toilet and back into her electric wheelchair. She can pull herself up and back down using grab bars, however. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
