About who needs care: My husband is retired LEO who has ALS. (No Alzheimer's-that's just an error by Care. com) He's 50 years old and fully wheelchair dependent. He has limited use of his body so requires Hoyer lifting/transferring/shower wheelchair. We're looking for an aide to come a couple times a week to shower him. It would require using the Hoyer to transfer him to shower wheelchair, giving him a full shower, drying him, redressing him, and Hoyer him back in his wheelchair. Shaving, teeth brushing, toileting etc depending on his comfort level. Our schedule is completely flexible any day of the week. It takes approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hours to complete the task. We do have 2 dogs so must be comfortable with dogs. Caregiver needs to have patience and a gentle touch when moving him to prevent pain
