About the job

About who needs care: I would like someone who is personable and can provide companionship, will take my Aunt on rides and get her out of the house for a bit, help her with shopping, etc. She does not have a lot of needs and is mostly independent, however I need someone who can refill a med minder for her and be mindful to any shifts away from her baseline as she has mild dementia and will be very forgetful. She has no children and lived out of state for most of her adult life in California. After the death of her long term boyfriend and a number of her friends passing away, she moved back to Oregon to be closer to family. She does well with older people, probably in their 60's. About the care needs: She travelled a lot in her younger years and would likely do well with someone who has done a fair amount of travelling as well. She does not have children and complains about people in her retirement community being hard to relate to since they often have children and grandchildren they like to talk about as a primary topic of conversation. She has early stage dementia and finds it difficult to concentrate on activities or conversations that require her to think about something more than what is currently around her. She likes the idea of hobbies and reading and doing things of this nature, although attempts to engage her in these activities have not been very successful and tend to overwhelm her and she does not enjoy them. She is happy to go for drives and look at the scenery, observe other people doing activities, etc. She uses a walker for stability and is not up for long walks or hikes but is relatively mobile for someone her age. Services needed include: transportation, and companionship.
