About the job

About who needs care: Looking for help with an elderly woman experiencing dementia for a little over 10 years now and as of recently auditory hallucinations. She spends her time walking to church, going to the library, taking busses and the Max around the city, buying things to eat, etc. Loves movies about real events and biographies. Her mood can vary day to day- its very much a go with the flow kind of approach, some days she wants to be in her home and other times she will take you all over Portland! About the care needs: Its important for the ideal candidate to have a calming/ relaxed personality and to have their own vehicle. Must be comfortable driving the client around (you will be compensated for your mileage) and great with communication with everyone involved. Should be comfortable with animals in the case she visits her sons home. The clients mood can change day to day, so its important to be gentle, empathetic, while still logical and thick skinned. We have a team of people still in the making so we are looking for team players. You should have some experience and comfortability working with dementia/ schizophrenia/ memory disorders. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
