About who needs care: June was diagnosed with memory issues that we're still trying to understand with her doctors. She is married to my father, John, who is also in his 80s and is overall in good health and they live together mostly independently. She is mostly cogent, but gets emotional and confused in the afternoons. They are slow moving but still active in their grandchildren's lives, attending sporting events and gatherings frequently. John can drive and does his best to care for her. She enjoys gardening, reading books, and watching movies. About the care needs: An ideal caregiver is someone who can help with cooking and cleaning at their home, while also helping us keep an eye on June as her condition progresses. Someone who is outgoing and trustworthy is, of course, ideal, and we hope to build a good relationship that can support our family through this uncertain time. They live in a great neighborhood with lots of supportive and friendly neighbors, too, so we would want the person to be able to feel acquainted because it can be difficult to isolate in the house!
