About the job

About who needs care: My grandfather is currently living in a long term care facility after undergoing surgery for a fractured hip. He has dementia and our family is looking for in-home options so that he can come home and live with my grandmother. He has limited mobility and will need help to do every personal care task. About the care needs: My grandfather is a Korean War veteran and has always had a very outgoing personality. He loves to talk and joke around, although he has significant aphasia now and is harder to understand. He would be best suited with someone who is very patient . He also has a catheter from his latest surgery and is no longer able to walk, so someone who is able to move him and get him to do small strengthening exercises would be ideal. Before the dementia, he loved playing on the keyboard, drawing, writing, and being involved in his church and community politics. He has a lot of amazing stories from his time serving in the military and growing up as the youngest of a huge family in Brooklyn, NY. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
