About who needs care: My dad was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, able to bathe, use the restroom, ambulate on own for now. His right arm has mobility issues due to a neck issue. He needs reminders/pushing to eat frequent meals, hydrate and take meds. He is pretty tired due to chemotherapy. He likes the outdoors, trees, rocks, birds, fishing, college basketball/football, history/sci-fi/western shows/movies, and family. He's ran his own business most of his life. Usually he wakes pretty early 4-5 a.m. sometimes- drinks an Ensure shake, washes up, and changes clothes. I try to offer him breakfast around 7:30-8 a.m. He's ready for a nap by 8:30- 9 a.m. sleeps for 3+hrs, if he's gotten up and not drank an ensure I offer him one, in addition to lunch around 12:30-1:00 p.m. Then he'll nap for a while and when he gets up, I offer him an Ensure if he hasn't gotten one, he might watch TV or chat a bit, I try to offer him dinner around 6-6:30 p.m. He's ready for bed by 8:30-9 p.m. if not before. About the care needs: Someone with a good sense of humor, easy going, that will make sure he eats and hydrates, can carry a conversation if he's up to it. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
