About who needs care: Mother - Recovering from large right side stroke that started in vision center. Should return home 50 - 75% capable. Blind on left. And general weakness on left. Nearly 88 years old with COPD (on oxygen) and CKD. Lives with 91-year-old husband. Has 2 sets of adult children local wanting to honor parents wishes to remain at home. Will be available and willing to help a lot, but not professionals. About the care needs: Pleasant, but not boisterous to fit parent's personalities. Parents have elderly cat they love dearly. Mom operated an in-home daycare for decades and volunteered at Arthur elementary. Parents fostered maybe 20 children over the years. Interests are mostly family. Used to camp, fish and garden. Specific skills will be care and encouragement of a person during first year recover of stroke. Mom will work at recovery, with encouragement. Because of CKD, it seems she has increased urges to urinate. And, she cannot go laying down, creating interest in night care as well as day. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
