About who needs care: My mom Carol has a bit of parkinsons. She does use a wheelchair but most times is able to get herself from where she is sitting to chair. She is a wonderful lady and has all her wits about her. Would like someone to take her out during time together to give me a break while she is visiting every other month. Places like the High museum, Carter Center, lectures, arts and Antiques, and possible church. About the care needs: My mom likes smart, interesting people, not just functional care giving, but a companion who is smart and interested in the world. Functionally she just needs someone to make sure she gets to a bathroom as quickly as possible and someone who can lift a travel wheelchair into the chair. Otherwise she is a totally capable woman. (Need someone who is certified, CNA, or any certificate that will allow us to get reimbursed from John Hancock.) She does not need someone who just chats to fill the silence or someone that hovers too much. Carol is awesome and wicked fun and up for almost anything, as long as she knows in advance and also, where the bathrooms are... and she is at a point where she doesn't like surprise change of plans. It's an awesome opportunity to have fun in and around Atlanta with an amazing woman! Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
