My mother is showing early signs of dementia. We will eventually need to put her in an assisted living or memory care facility. We need someone to come to our home while my wife and I are at work and be her companion and assist her as needed. She is mobile, albeit slow, is hard of hearing, cannot see well, and gets confused easily. She can be a picky eater but enjoys her wine. She has several cats. She makes sometimes makes a mess in her room while trying to take care of them. She has no other activities during the day. Taking her to walk outside would be helpful. The caregiver will need to ensure she takes her medication. My mother can still walk and dress herself, but she needs someone to guide her when she gets confused. She likes to talk a lot. The caregiver will need to be a good listener and patient.
