About who needs care: Mom and dad live with me and my family of 4 adults. During the day my parents are largely alone and my mom needs care. My dad takes care of himself. Mom has quadriplegia with some movement after a spinal cord injury in April. Has a power wheelchair, manual wheelchair, lift recliner, grab bars, roll in shower, ramps, hoyer lift and hospital bed. She can do a stand pivot transfer with a gait belt with a well trained individual. Afternoon visits to transfer mom to a wheelchair and bring to the toilet. Change her pull-up. Shower 1 or 2 times per week. Maybe make a sandwich if she's hungry. Dad is in the home, but unable to help. About the care needs: A female caregiver who is gentle. She has nerve pain so she needs a person who is patient with slow movements. Knowledge of a hoyer lift is helpful. Knowledge of proper physical stand pivot transfer is helpful. Mom likes to read large print books. She is blind in her left eye. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
