About who needs care: My father is type 1 diabetic with fronto temporal dementia. He is OCD about monitoring his blood glucose levels. His ideal day is just sitting in their apartment (at my brothers residence in Gibsonia, PA) watching television. He does not like to leave the house even to sit outside. He is experiencing a number of complications from the FTD including trouble swallowing and he gets agitated rather easily. With that said, we have had several volunteers from his hospice program visit and spend time with him and give our mother a chance to get out and keep living her life, to a certain extent, and those visits have gone pretty well so far. About the care needs: Ideally someone who is willing to have small talk and take care of preparing snacks/meals. If someone has experience working with dementia patients that would be a major plus in our opinion but not a requirement. Services needed include: companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
