About who needs care: !!! prefers a physically strong male!!! co-morbidities; yet continues to be very independent mobility challenges subjective cognitive decline (not an official diagnosis) mobile w/walker and right ankle brace has voluntarily stopped driving, yet maintains a registered vehicle that can be used to transport him to medical appointments prompts to use nebulizer when you hear him wheezing prompts to take medication laundry (washer/dryer in basement - he no longer negotiates the stairs well) heavy on companion, light on housekeeping/providing personal care - he's very independent and proud About the care needs: interest in cars and mechanics interest in ALL sports a sense of humor story teller who engages him in conversation: he, too, is an awesome griot working w/93-year-olds AND all the comes with being 93 working w/patients who are introverts, yet experience loneliness he IS a chauvinist: has clear ideas on stereotypical gender roles will not respond well to harsh verbal delivery: accepts clear, direct, explicit communication and boundaries, yet will NOT tolerate condescending, dismissive, disrespectful tone. someone w/a background in teaching or nursing would likely be a good fit Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
