About who needs care: Mom is 89, is in mid to late stage dementia, uses hearing aids, has arthritis in her hands which makes it hard for her to grip things, & she has little upper body strength to catch herself if she becomes off-balance. A few weeks ago, she fell apparently causing a compression fracture at Lumbar spine vertebra #2. Over Mother's Day weekend she had two more falls. Due to excruciating pain, we took her to the ER Tuesday which is when we learned of the fracture that was aggravated by those falls. This is requiring toileting assistance and an extra set of eyes & ears to prevent additional issues. About the care needs: First & foremost, we need someone with Alzheimer's/dementia experience. The person, preferably female, should have experience with transferring. They would need to be able to assist with toileting & dressing if/when Mom has an accident. At this time we are looking for someone to help out the next 10-14 days with possible continued "on-call" help. Services needed include: feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
