About who needs care: My sister-in-law is bedridden (in a recliner) and has diabetes, COPD and a variety of other ailments. She cannot walk but can stand for about 40 seconds. She is mentally sharp. She also has a 90-year-old husband who is currently in the hospital with acute kidney failure. He is in hospice. She wants him to come home to die, so we need a live-in caregiver that would be willing to be his primary care giver when I'm gone. I live in MN and can stay until September, but need to leave for 3 weeks or so. Hospice will not let home health aides be listed as his primary care giver. My sister-in-law is mentally sharp enough to be the primary care giver, but because she is bedridden, they won't allow her to be. We would also have home health aides here 7 days a week (9 to 5) to help. There are two cats that need feeding and litter boxes cleaned. They live on City Island in a very nice house with a water view. About the care needs: Someone who is compassionate, understanding, likes animals (they are both animal lovers and worry about their cats) and loves helping people. I want someone who is attentive and takes initiative. For instance, if clothes need washing or the garbage needs taking out they need to notice those things an do it. I find the home health aides only do what they are told. They don't take any initiative. We also need someone who is responsible, honest and trustworthy. Someone who would treat my loved ones as if they are their own loved ones and care for their home and cats as if they were there own. My sister-in-law reads constantly and does not have any hobbies. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
