About who needs care: Women only can work with my mom. My mom has Lewy Bodies Dementia and lives with me. I need some help so that I can do other things, in getting her out of the bed in the mornings, taking her to the bathroom and taking care of those needs, bathing her and getting her dressed, doing her hair, help feeding her breakfast and lunch, plus being someone that she can talk to and have fun with. My mom loves to laugh and act silly so she likes aides that are the same and that will listen to her stories, pay attention to and interact with her and not their phones or tv. She likes to have their undivided attention. She is currently in a wheelchair because she broke her hip in a rehab facility 7 weeks ago. She is getting PT and should begin walking some again soon with her rollator walker. She can stand up with assistance. We are working on getting her BP regulated again because often when she stands up in the bathroom, her BP will drop and she gets dizzy and weak, sometimes she passes out so the aide would have to have a secure hold on her so that mom doesn't hit the floor. She is only about 125 pounds so its not very difficult to hold her up. Her dementia progressed the past couple of months because she was admitted into the hospital 3 times and into 2 different rehabs, so she got delirium and it has basically stuck with her. She is more confused now and has difficulty separating what is real and what is not, or what may have been a dream or something she saw on tv. She told me that she doesn't like to be treated like a baby, or called sweetie, etc. My mama is one of the sweetest and most resilient people I have ever known. About the care needs: The aide needs to be sweet, kind, gentle, patient, funny and likes to laugh and talk but wont interrupt my mom while she is talking to talk about themselves, especially since my mom has such a difficult time trying to get her thoughts out. It would be best if the aide has experience working with someone that has dementia. They need to be strong and not have any back issues so that they can help my mom get up and possibly hold her up with one arm in the bathroom and clean my mom up with their other hand. The aide needs to be able to take care of my mom the way that I have guided them. Services needed include: companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
