About who needs care: Mom has a rare neurological degenerative disease that affects her mobility (she uses an electric wheelchair) and her memory (she has moderate dementia) as well as fine motor skills, incontinence, and swallowing. Mom loves her cat, Angel, and enjoys coloring, watching classic TV shows, and listening to stories. Ideally, we need someone who will cover 12 hours a day - that is giving mom breakfast, lunch, dinner, and getting her ready for bed, and putting her in bed. She also needs help bathing and incontinence care. About the care needs: The caregiver must like animals, ideally cats. Mom needs someone who is patient and also strong-willed. They need to understand that mom has dementia and often doesn't understand why she can't do certain things or eat certain foods. Mom does best with people who are understanding but stand firm. Additionally, CNAs are a plus and those who have experience using Hoyer Lifts, transferring, and understand pericare. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
