Helen is a 90-year-old Air Force veteran that resides in an assisted living facility. She is of sound mind but has trouble getting around. She is currently struggling with esophageal issues that require her to be monitored during meals to prevent her from regurgitating her food. She is able to feed herself and choose her own meals though. We encourage her to go down to the dining room for her meals, but sometimes she prefers to eat up in her room. The staff at the assisted living will deliver the food for her. When she does go down to the dining room, she needs assistance being pushed in her wheelchair. She is on oxygen as needed, and has a mobile oxygen tank on the back of her wheelchair for when she gets out of breath. During the week, she has hospice nurses checking in with her in the morning hours, but she needs someone to monitor her meals at lunch and dinner (as well as encourage her to go down to the dining room). On the weekends, she doesn't have any hospice nurses available for her, and needs help with breakfast, lunch, and dinner. She needs minimal help with dressing, and a little bit more help with toileting. She can toilet herself but would benefit from someone helping her switch out her adult diaper. The staff at the assisted living give her a shower twice a week. Helen is a wonderful woman who would love to have some company and someone to share her stories to. Waking up around 8:00 a.m. Toileting herself and having assistance changing her adult diaper. Picking out an outfit and having some assistance putting it on. Having someone push her in her wheelchair to the dining room. She can order her own breakfast, but needs someone to sit with her while she eats. Return to her room and take a nap. Sometimes she skips lunch and sleeps through it. She likes to watch tv and read. She usually is too tired to go down to the dining room for dinner, so she prefers to eat in her bedroom. She watches Wheel of Fortune every night at 7:00 p.m. and Jeopardy at 7:30 p.m. and then goes to bed. She loves to watch tv, read, and tell stories from her past.
