About the job

About who needs care: good day - Dad is 96 with advanced alzheimers, mobile but an ongoing fall risk at every step, so the family is in need of assistance with care and hours of being close by. Son lives with parents (mom is 89), so there is oversight and care, but we are getting exhausted. Dad is not combative, so that's good .. cooperation is generally good with the occasional off days refusing showers. Trying to keep both parents engaged a bit - they mostly watch TV, dad loves to go outside and sit in the sun, so we troop in and out with him, and manage his sun exposure best we can keeping hats on and watch for overheating. He is in briefs for urinary leakage although he insists on trudging to the bathroom even though not productive. bowl movments have been on target though, so thats good. Shower help, bathroom cleaning, walking assist, and chat with mom are the basics, possible meal assist.. we could use lots of time but depends on cost - we'll take 4 hr shifts like 4pm-8pm, 8 hr shifts from 12-8 p.m. Flexible on morning help also ... 9-1 or 3 p.m. are an option too - we will work with your needs too. thank you ! About the care needs: both male and female are welcome - dad care is the focus, but someone who can make mom feel comfortable is the ideal, she is very reluctant to have someone in the home. When we are around, maybe we can switch up and get help getting mom out for a walk. A constant chatterbox would not be helpful, but normal friendly chat for my puzzle fiend mom will be the best personality fix. for Dad, he has limited ablity to converse, but appreciates attention in small doses. not letting dad have his way in his desire to lie down all day is the game .. there are days his resistance is real and we are fine with obliging, but generally we try to keep him up and active - in a 96-year-old way : ) Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
