About who needs care: Two parents: mom 81; dad 84 Dad: diabetic & hearing loss; needs help reminding him to take his insulin (can do it on his own), currently drives but we would like for him to stop driving asap. Mom: uses walker, heart and kidney conditions, assistance with showering, hearing loss; need help with taking medication (giving her the medicine with water at the given times) Both parents are friendly and like to talk, speak English, Ukrainian, & Polish, & want to stay in their home as long as possible. Parents start their day late morning +/- 10-11 a.m. Parents have be relocated to the ground floor of the home (stairs are not a option for Mom). Dad prepares meals and serves meals to Mom. Parents watch tv, talk on the phone, go to dr appointments, Dad does errands (grocery, pharmacy, takes Mom to all of her dr appointments Dad helps Mom with all of her needs. They tend to stay up late. Three daughters live within 25 mins of parents and regularly check in to help/visit. About the care needs: The caregiver should be friendly and be willing to listen to stories and chit chat; have patience as they will probably hear the same stories repeated. My parents are catholic and like to watch Mass on the computer and listen to Ukrainian tv/music. My Mom is overweight, so they should be strong/skilled enough to assist her with getting in and out of a car, with her walker, & showering. Dad likes watching soccer & boxing, is friendly. Caregiver should be able to prepare lunch and dinner with dietary restrictions/considerations (heart healthy and diabetic friendly meals). Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
