About who needs care: My Mom has Alzheimer's Disease. Ideally, we would be needing 24/7 care (we are not opposed to having a group of caregivers). She needs help dressing, bathing, toileting, sometimes eating, walking (she walks with difficulty, with a walker), my father has just started using a Hoyer lift to get her in & out of bed. My Mom's ideal day: waking up, getting ready for the day, breakfast, conversation time, OT/PT, lunch, nap, some type of activity (she loves to dance), sitting outside/tending her back deck garden, being quizzed (she was a champion speller in childhood), dinner, conversation, getting ready for bed, sleeping. About the care needs: Someone who is very patient, has a thick skin (my Mom can sometimes say things that are hurtful - she sometimes loses her polite filter), ideally has worked with Alzheimer's patients in the past, someone who can work in partnership with my Dad. My Dad will need help with meals, and light housekeeping. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
