About who needs care: Cognitive decline but very cheerful. Can only walk 40 paces with a walker and will be in a wheel chair day to day, but needs help with general care. Wears Depends. Can feed himself. He may have dementia but definitely has damage from a prior stroke. Minimal medications and physically healthy otherwise, but is a fall risk when left on his own. Has two very kind neighbors on the other side of his duplex who help as they can. About the care needs: My dad mainly needs depends changes, once a day or every few days bathing, and someone to make him a meal and make sure he eats it, and who makes sure he doesn't try to get up and that he doesn't fall and can do transfers for him. He's only 5 ft 5 and is not very heavy. Other than that, he just needs supervision to make sure he stays safe, and thrives on companionship. He used to be very gregarious. Someone who will be a good match may play music for my dad to listen to (especially 70s rock and Power Metal) and maybe watch tb with him, who will like hearing stories and engage in conversation, especially about music or science -- he used to be a musician and loved to talk about space. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
