About the job

About who needs care: My Mom has dementia, but cognitively shes still half way there. Hit or Miss what she remembers. She can get her own clothes on but it takes her a while. She cant prepare her own meals but she can eat what you put in front of her. Food and drink and utensils must be put in front of her. She is partially blind due to macular degeneration. I think its wet macular degeneration because she is getting eye injections and its helping, so her vision is being partially restored. She gets around with her quad cane, from her bedroom to the dining room table and back. She was an avid reader until she lost her sight, so it might be nice to have someone come read to her. She is incontinent but she can get her diapers on and will put them on if you request. I have been taking her to her doctors appointments and I think I will be able to keep doing that but I could need help with that at some point. Meals on Wheels delivers her meals but they come in an aluminum tray which she tried to microwave so I try to give her food that is supposed to be served room temperature About the care needs: Laid back and not get offended by my Moms mood changes. Sometimes she is willing to get up and be social, sometimes not. The caregiver should like to read and be able to prepare simple meals like sandwiches. Mom might need help finding her clothes to get dressed even though I lay them out on her chair. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
