About who needs care: Husband needs help getting ready for bed and transferring into bed. He has advanced stage Parkinson's. He is a retired doctor, 82 years old, and is in a wheelchair. He is mildly cognitively impaired, but for the most part, is quite "with it." He has a suprapubic catheter and a pump called Duopa (similar to a diabetic pump) that is for his Parkinson's medications. We use a Sara Stedy for his transfers. We would like help in the evenings for approximately two hours (9:00pm-11:00)pm preparing him for bed. About the care needs: My husband has a very pleasant personality and is very cooperative with caregivers. A good sense of humor is always appreciated! The caregiver needs to be strong enough to lift his legs into his bed (he will be sitting on the edge of the bed). The caregiver ideally would be familiar with the suprapubic catheter and able to adjust the Duopa to the correct setting for overnight. Services needed include: feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
