About who needs care: Needs supervision/help while using a walker, showering, preparing meals/snacks, and companionship. She tends to watch a lot of TV, and would need to be encouraged to wear her hearing aids. Activities to help with her cognitive function, and share her stories with. Typically wakes up around 11 a.m. or so, then eats pretty much the same things for breakfast around noon, showers 3-4 times a week, watches a lot of TV, exercises a little bit by walking (with walker) or using pedal equipment. I typically get home around 3:30-4:00 p.m. About the care needs: Someone who is patient and outgoing-will engage my mom in conversation and let her tell her stories (maybe the same one over and over). Basic cooking skills (over easy eggs a must) , doesn't mind some light housework (dishes mostly). She is from Hawaii (Oah'u) and loves to share her stories about growing up/living there. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
