About the job

Note: We hire through IHSS only. My mom is 74 and suffers from Parkinson's. She needs engagement and supervision, as she makes unsafe choices when bored and unattended. Engagement might involve making conversation, going around the block on her power wheelchair, writing, drawing, singing folk songs, exercising, or doing brain games. We try to limit screen time. My mom will need help with personal care activities like preparing meals, showering, dressing, and brushing her teeth. She also needs supervision while standing up, sitting down, or walking. We're looking for a caregiver who is: engaging, playful, encouraging, flexible, gentle, and deeply respectful. It's important to us that our caregiver know how work around the needs and frustrations of someone who is declining mentally and physically. Hours are negotiable.
