About who needs care: My dad is 93 fiercely independent, charming, a story-teller, wants to be a mentor to next generation, former head of pediatric dentistry at Children's Hospital. Educated, well-traveled, speaks five languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, Cantonese, Japanese. Some memory loss, needs to stay active (30 mins age appropriate physical activity every day). Enjoys social time: Breakfast and lunch or dinner with companion, reading paper, playing cards or Japanese game of "Go" (Dad will teach you how!), telling you stories, having a walk in the neighborhood. He likes to go out for lunch and dinner - so you need a car. 8:30-9:00 a.m. Wake up, get dressed by himself 9:00am-10 a.m. Breakfast and meds, read paper, social time 10:00am-10:30 a.m. Physical activity, exercise 10:30-12noon Play cards and games, sit in sun on front porch, visit from neighbors and pets 12noon-1:30 p.m. Go out for lunch at local restaurant with companion driving 1:30-3 p.m. Sit in sun by pool, relax 3:00-5 p.m. Nap 5pm-7 p.m. Go for afternoon walk, watch the 6 p.m. news 7 p.m. Go out for dinner at a local restaurant with companion 8:30 Play cards or games, watch TV 11:00 p.m. Shower, bedtime -- independent Dad occasionally needs help, but is mostly self-sufficient About the care needs: Interesting companion, charming, energetic, active, interested in learning new things, social, likeable -- most important must get along with Dad!
