12 delicious doggy ice cream recipes

Dog ice cream? Yes, it's really a thing! While you shouldn't feed your pup the real deal, you can whip up a do-it-yourself summer doggy delight and be the best pup parent or dog walker around. Sometimes regular kibble just doesn't beat the heat like a frozen treat will. Unlike your tasty summer treats, Fido's version can include ingredients like peanut butter, pumpkin, bananas and even chicken. Some recipes may contain yogurt so avoid these if your dog is sensitive to dairy-based products. This could upset his stomach, making the treat seem more like a trick to your pup. Some of these recipes you can even treat yourself to!

Check out these paw-some dog ice cream recipes that are chillingly yummy. You may even enjoy some of them yourself!

1. Go Greek

First Home Love Life's recipe includes Greek yogurt and real organic pumpkin that you can freeze into cute little cupcake shapes. While it might not have the taste punch of your favorite rocky road or birthday cake flavors, it's totally fit for human consumption.

2. PB&B

Peanut butter and banana are the main ingredients in the ice cube-shaped treats from DogTipper. These tiny tasty bites are just as edible for you or your human children.

3. Chicken

Chicken plus an ice cream machine equals a frosty canine concoction from Kol's Notes. Unless you're really into meaty treats yourself, this isn't recommended for people.

4. Be Bananas

Golden Woofs has a creamy banana ice cream recipe that's a one-ingredient wonder! And you can chow down on this chilly mix too.

5. Sandwich Stacker

Ice cream sandwiches aren't just for people! Make a peanut buttery blend by sandwiching your homemade delight between two peanut butter dog biscuits, a la The Cookie Rookie. Your cute little canine will love, love, love this sweet sandwich, but you (and your kids) certainly don't want to take a try.

6. Blueberry Dream

Your pooch adored the frozen banana treat from Golden Woofs, so why not follow their two-ingredient blueberry ice cream for dogs? Don't forget to try some for yourself!

7. Get Cheesy

Cheese in ice cream? For dogs, it's a dream come true. For you, not so much. This Kol's Notes recipe isn't for dogs who have a dairy sensitivity or (any) humans.

8. It's Grain-Free

Offbeat Home & Life created a meaty yogurt mix dogs adore when frozen. Sure, you technically could try it too -- if you enjoy meat pops.

9. Exotic Blend

The Doggy Dessert Chef's frozen coconut, mango and pineapple recipe is tropically tasty for Fido and your family.

10. Sassy Strawberries

Can you guess what this three-ingredient homemade dog ice cream from Dog Milk features prominently? Of course, it's strawberries! Not only can your dog slurp up this slushy stuff, but so can you.

11. Pumpkin Pie

A little pudding and a little pumpkin come together in Dog Treat Kitchen's recipe for the perfect frozen pumpkin pops. Even though this is a recipe for pups, there's no reason why you, your kids or your best buds can't have a bite too.

12. Milk-Bone in a Bucket

Add a doggy treat to a banana-flavored ice cream cup with DIY for Life's recipe. While you might enjoy the yogurt-based creamy goodness, the dog treat stuck inside is only for pups.
