We have a very intelligent, cute, charming and obedient member of our family. The problem is – he’s also the messiest. No matter what I say to him or promise him in the way of biscuits, he still won’t pick up the mess that he leaves trailing around after him – hairs, mud, old tennis balls and paw prints.
A while ago, my family and I moved from a small but perfectly-formed house, which was (just) big enough to squeeze in husband, me, eldest one and very young one. The best thing about it? – It took me less than two hours to clean.
Fast forward a few years and the children are bigger, have accumulated more stuff and Rufus the charming Labrador has joined us. Result: I spend the only day or two off from work that I have sweeping, vacuuming and wiping down skirting boards. I just can’t help it – much as I enjoy cuddling and walking my canine friend, I don’t like the mess.

By hiring a cleaner who also loves dogs, you will be solving two problems at once. Not only will you know that once or twice a week the paw prints get wiped off the floors and the chewed-up tennis balls get scooped up and recycled, you’ll also be sure that your furry friend gets friendly company. If your cleaner is happy with this arrangement, suggest they add an hour to their usual time spent at your house, and take your pet out for his fresh air and exercise.
The best thing about this arrangement – you will have a more relaxed weekend, knowing that the fluff and stuff will get cleaned up when your pet-friendly cleaner next visits.
