Your child's wellbeing and safety are my priorities. I am patient, experienced and trustworthy.
| Hello, I'm Maria, an International Relations undergraduate student and a passionate babysitter. My experience: I spent 10 months as an after-school nanny for a 6-year-old girl in 2022. Prepared dinner, supported her with homework, took her swimming, and tennis, and organised playdates with friends. Ensured a safe and enjoyable environment during the post-school hours. Since 2023 I have supported 4 families, (babysitting 5 kids) when needed. Focused on providing dinner, managing night routines and bedtime stories, and ensuring a peaceful night's sleep. Additionally, for 3 consecutive summers, I cared for my 2 cousins aged 4 and 10. Engaged them in age-appropriate activities, ensured adherence to routines and guidelines provided by parents, and maintained a vigilant watch over their well-being. Furthermore, for two years, I volunteered with a charity in Portugal, organising activities for young single mothers and their babies and toddlers. Fun fact about me: I used to play cello for three years when I was younger. Outside of academics, I've been into horse riding since the age of 6, and competing for 3 years. Also, I speak Spanish and love reading.
Maria was friendly, kind, prompt, professional and accommodating all the things you need from a baby sitter. Maria also kept me updated with text to let me know all was peaceful back at home with my child asleep. I would not hesitate to recommend Maria."

Experienced Babysitter/Nanny in SW20
| Hi, my name is Izzy and I'm an enthusiastic and energetic babysitter. I've been babysitting and nannying for a few years and was also a Brownie leader. I love working with children and am about to begin my teacher training. I can provide references and I'm more than happy to meet with you and your child/children prior to any babysitting so you can check that I'm a good fit for your family. Hope to hear from you!
Izzy starting working with us when our daughter was 4 months old. We were just learning how to be parents much less knowing the ropes and she was loving and flexible with our daughter and incredibly organised and fun with her as well. We could count on her and she was so thoughtful and adventurous - ensuring that our daughter was happy and active. I went back to work and she made the transition very easy. She has kept in touch and even come back to visit. The only reason she stopped working with us is because she went back to school and we are pleased to hear she will now be using her skills to become a teacher. I am american and without family locally, I knew my daughter was in good hands- and with the regular pictures from my daughters day that Izzy would send, I also got to feel like I wasn't too far when I was back at work. Happy to provide recommendations or further details!"

FAQs for finding a babysitter

What is the going rate for babysitters on Care.com?

The average rate for babysitters on Care.com as of March, 2024 is £11.71 per hour. This rate will fluctuate depending on your location, the babysitter's level of experience, and the number of children to be watched. Other factors that may also influence the rate include the need for additional babysitting duties, specialised care, and overnight care.

How do I find a babysitter for my kids?

Looking for a babysitter can feel like a daunting task. To make the process easier, you can start by outlining what you'd like from a candidate before starting your babysitter search. Think about the level of experience you wish them to have, if you want them to have any first-aid certifications, if you need them to handle additional duties such as driving kids around or helping with homework assignments, and how much you are willing to pay.

To start your search process on Care.com, start by creating an account and answering a few questions to find babysitters that match your needs. You will then have the option to either post a job that can be seen by our extensive pool of childcarers or search babysitters from the platform based on years of experience, hourly rate, distance from your area, etc. After you have selected your candidates, you can schedule interviews, check references, and hire the babysitter who best meets the needs of your family.

What should I ask a babysitter during an interview?

In order to get to know if the candidate is a good fit, focus your interview questions around their previous experience, their babysitting style and personality, their previous training and skills, as well as any specific requirements to be performed on the job. It is very common to schedule a paid trial where you can be present while they care for your children. This is a great way to find out if the babysitter is a good match for your family and if your kids feel comfortable too.
