Babysitter with 1 year of experience - Part-Time - Birmingham B17
| Hi I am Martha a 23 year old medical student at the University of Birmingham. I am currently in my fifth year of studying so have lots of experience in the health care and caring profession. I am a hard-working, reliable, caring and dedicated individual. Through my course I am trained in Basic Life Support and have had to perform resuscitation on individuals before. I am also used to dealing with all manner of people and used to the mess that can sometimes accompany children. I love children and am very comfortable with any pets you might have as well! I am also able to provide any tuition to your children or help them with any homework they might have. I am energetic so would be able play games. I also have studied art to a high level at school so would love to engage your child in some sort of crafty activity if you thought that would be appropriate. I currently babysit for one young family every couple of weeks and have been doing weekly tutoring and babysitting for another family. These children range from two years to 10 years old. This shows I have regular experience with children of a variety of ages. Also I volunteered for a year in an after-school club for children with special needs and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I have access to my own car so can pick children up from school or drive to anywhere needed. I am flexible but would prefer work in the evenings and weekends because of my university placements in the mornings. Look forward to meeting you!

FAQs for finding a babysitter

What is the going rate for babysitters on Care.com?

The average rate for babysitters on Care.com as of February, 2023 is £10.30 per hour. This rate will fluctuate depending on your location, the babysitter's level of experience, and the number of children to be watched. Other factors that may also influence the rate include the need for additional babysitting duties, specialised care, and overnight care.

How do I find a babysitter for my kids?

Looking for a babysitter can feel like a daunting task. To make the process easier, you can start by outlining what you'd like from a candidate before starting your babysitter search. Think about the level of experience you wish them to have, if you want them to have any first-aid certifications, if you need them to handle additional duties such as driving kids around or helping with homework assignments, and how much you are willing to pay.

To start your search process on Care.com, start by creating an account and answering a few questions to find babysitters that match your needs. You will then have the option to either post a job that can be seen by our extensive pool of childcarers or search babysitters from the platform based on years of experience, hourly rate, distance from your area, etc. After you have selected your candidates, you can schedule interviews, check references, and hire the babysitter who best meets the needs of your family.

What should I ask a babysitter during an interview?

In order to get to know if the candidate is a good fit, focus your interview questions around their previous experience, their babysitting style and personality, their previous training and skills, as well as any specific requirements to be performed on the job. It is very common to schedule a paid trial where you can be present while they care for your children. This is a great way to find out if the babysitter is a good match for your family and if your kids feel comfortable too.
