Dad Warns Parents After Child Nearly Chokes on Tommee Tippee Pacifier

Pacifiers can be a lifesaver for new parents, but one dad is thinking twice about using the soothers after his daughter almost swallowed part of one.

Earl Wilson, of Doncaster, England, said his daughter turned blue in the face after the nipple of the Tommee Tippee pacifier became lodged in the 18-month-old’s throat. The distressed father took to Facebook to share the scary incident with others.

“Beware, my daughter nearly choked on this Tommee Tippee soother yesterday morning,” he wrote. “If it wasn’t for my wife’s quick thinking, I’d hate to think what would’ve happened.”

His post, which was published on Feb. 23, has nearly 30,000 shares and just over 7,000 comments from concerned caregivers from across the globe.

“I don’t think my daughter would be here now if this happened in the middle of the night,” he said.

Wilson fears the Tommee Tippee pacifiers are too small for children like his tiny tot, and hopes that his situation will serve as a warning to parents to keep a watchful eye on their little ones who use them, especially during sleep.

“My main concern is it’s an owl dummy (associated with night) so people will be using it at bedtime,” the concerned father said.

A Tommee Tippee spokesman told the DailyMail that the company has been in touch with the Wilson family and plans to thoroughly investigate the matter.

“The safety and well-being of babies is at the heart of absolutely everything we do, so we’re taking this extremely seriously,” a Tommee Tippee spokesman told the DailyMail. “We’re very sorry that Earl and his wife and daughter have had this experience; it must have been very distressing for them.”
