A pair of twin sisters from Illinois are melting hearts across the world. But take a look — this isn’t your typical set of twins.

The adorable duo, now nine-months-old, were born with different complexions to proud parents Whitney Meyer and Tomas Dean of Quincy, IL, on April 23, 2016.

Kalani got her mom’s lighter skin tone, while her twin sister Jarani inherited her dad’s darker complexion, according to People Magazine. The unique babes couldn’t be more precious. And mom, of course, agrees.

“At first when they were born, I wanted to believe it but it’s so rare I didn’t think it’d happen to my twins! But sure enough they’re biracial twins!” the mom-of-three told KHQA.

The girls are fraternal twins, which means that each twin was a separate egg, fertilized by two different sperm cells.

According to CNN, “Estimates of how often this phenomenon occurs vary widely, with some as low as 1 in 500 and others as high as 1 in a million.”

The beautiful pair differ in more than just appearance. The 25-year-old mother told People Magazine that, “Kalani has lots of energy and is crawling while Jarani loves to eat and has yet to crawl.”

We can’t wait to watch them grow up! You can see more pics of the viral twins here.
