23 photos of celebrity moms living that breastfeeding life

It’s their Instagram accounts and they’ll do what they want to — and that includes posting breastfeeding photos and selfies, thankyouverymuch. Over the years, we’ve seen an uptick in celebrity moms sharing nursing and/or pumping photos to social media and we are here for it, because anything that helps normalize breastfeeding is a win for moms.

From Olivia Wilde’s selfie with her “drinking buddy” to Ali Wong’s sweet photo — and hilarious commentary — on nursing, here are 23 photos of celebrity moms breastfeeding. Hashtag: Gorgeous.

1. Chrissy Teigen

Fans loved this sweet photo Teigen shared of her son Miles eating, but when the model and cookbook author breastfed for the first time, she was caught off guard. “The feeding schedule surprised me a lot. If you kind of do the math, you’re kind of breastfeeding for 10 hours a day total,” she told “Entertainment Tonight.”  “It’s very loving and sweet, but it’s not easy. They just use you for your milk and you just feel like you are just a cow all day.”

2. Shay Mitchell

Breast friends

A post shared by Shay Mitchell (@shaymitchell) on

Shortly after the birth of her first daughter, Atlas Noa, the “Pretty Little Liars” actress shared a beautiful breastfeeding snap to Instagram, along with the pun: “Breast friends.”

3. Olivia Wilde

While Olivia Wilde nursed both of her children, Otis and Daisy, the actress once remarked: “[Breastfeeding] should be a choice for everyone. I don’t like the idea of breastfeeding being forced on anyone or anyone feeling guilty.”

4. Jenna Dewan

In March 2020, Jenna Dewan and her fiancé, Steve Kazee, welcomed their first child together. Their little boy’s name is Callum Michael Rebel Kazee. On Mother’s Day, Steve celebrated Jenna with this photo. In part, his ode to Jenna read:  “This is how you do everything. You smile and you make everything around you better.”

5. Cardi B

Cardi B didn’t just post a photo of herself breastfeeding her daughter Kulture to Instagram — she did it throughout her video for “Money.” Now that’s what we’re talking about!

6. Liv Tyler

Even though it was originally intended for her husband, Tyler wound up sharing this breastfeeding photo with baby Lula on Instagram, as well. “Honestly, I took that picture for David because we were in bed snuggling and he was at work … There should be no stigma — it’s a very beautiful and natural thing,” the actress told People.

7. Rachel McAdams

Just like any breastfeeding, working mom, Rachel McAdams had to take time out of her photoshoot to pump milk for her 6-month-old son — and the result was pure gold.

8. Ali Wong

Breastfeeding is a blast

A post shared by Ali Wong (@aliwong) on

Speaking to NPR, funnywoman Ali Wong said: “I thought [breastfeeding] was supposed to be this beautiful bonding ceremony, where I would feel like I was sitting on a lily pad in a meadow and bunnies would gather at my feet. But really it’s like this savage ritual that just reminds you that all of us, we’re nothing but mammals.”

9. Jessica Alba

In 2018, Alba got real with Yahoo about her breastfeeding troubles, saying, “I produced a lot of breast milk with my first, but my baby didn’t want to feed on me. My second child was into it, but my milk supply was not as much. And with my third, my supply was not enough for him, so after three weeks I did a combination feed.” Every baby’s different!

THIS ONE’S FOR THE LADIES Just a few thoughts that I wanted to share on Breast-feeding. Last week was my last week nursing Banks (my six month old) I am a working mom of two. My goal was to get my little girl to six months and then decide if I (and her of course) wanted to keep going. Let me tell you. Pumping at work sucks. I had zero down time and am usually pumping in a hair and make up trailer while four hands work to get me ready for the next scene with lots of other people around. Even if I had the luxury to be in my own room, it’s not even considered a “break” because you have to sit upright for the milk to flow into the bottles! Plus you are having your damn nipples tugged at by an aggressive machine that makes an annoying sound, that echoes through your head day and night (I swear that machine and I had many conversations at midnight and 3 am)! Ttttthen having to find someplace to sterilize bottles and keep your milk cold (ok I’m done with that rant lol)! Anyway, I didn’t know this because with Luca I didn’t work until he was about nine months old, so I didn’t pump very often. Your milk supply drastically drops when you stop feeding as often and lose the actual contact and connection with your baby (?). So I was eating all the feunugreek goats butt blessed thistle fennel cookies/drops/shakes/pills I could get my hands on! It was maddening. (Does fenugreek make anyone else smell like maple syrup and rubber gloves?…not chill) With all of this complaining, I want to say I enjoyed (almost) every moment of feeding my daughter. Felt so lucky to be so close to her and give her that start. I know many women are not able to and for that I am sympathetic and very grateful that I could. For six wonderful months. But I needed a break. I was going to break. With the stress of a dropping milk supply and a baby that was getting bored or not caring about nursing when I was available to. I was sad and frustrated and feeling like a failure all of the time. When really I’m a bad ass rock star. Moms get high on feeling like superwoman…because we are! Doing too much, because we can! 12. Pink

Singer Pink has posted numerous breastfeeding selfies over the years in an effort to normalize breastfeeding. And in 2017, during an interview with Ellen DeGeneres, she said: “It’s such a weird thing that people have such strong opinions about breastfeeding. It’s a child, and it needs to eat. I’m feeding my kid. Would you rather him scream? Because he’s very capable of that, too.”

In honor of #wbw2016. #normalizebreastfeeding.

A post shared by Alyssa Milano (@milano_alyssa) on

In 2015, Milano spoke out about the unhealthy perception many people have about breasts.  “Everyone’s fine with [Miley Cyrus’] nipples being out, but if I post a picture of me breastfeeding it’s like, you know, craziness,” she told “Entertainment Tonight,” referring to the singer’s appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards. “You know, I think people are more comfortable sexualizing breasts than relating them to what they were made for, which is feeding another human. It’s crazy.”

14. Tess Holliday

When model Tess Holliday nursed her son Bowie at the Women’s March in L.A., the moment was captured by a friend. Holliday then posted the photo to Instagram, saying, “To those saying that I should ‘cover up,’ you mean when I’m breastfeeding MY baby who was a) hungry & b) screaming because he was overly tired & the crowd overloaded his senses & it was the only way to comfort him?! I will feed my child anywhere I want.” Amen!
