SAT Tutors

I took my SAT the first time with no assistance and got a 1525. I then took a SAT prep course and my score jumped to an 1850. I did my own research and implemented a study method unique to myself for the ACT and got a 31 the first try and went back the second time for a 32. I understand the stress of these tests and want to help students make and achieve goals to help them with their future plans.

I have been working with younger children on their homework since the 8th grade and am currently a SAT tutor for a non profit organization.

For over 30 years I have been a tutor of math (algebra and geometry) and test preparation for college (ACT and SAT). I am a retired high school teacher of math, reading, and English.

I have been tutoring since I started college four years ago. I also had some experience tutoring in high school, but not on as large scale. I began tutoring with two students, an 8th grader in Biology and Geometry and a 6th grader in English and Math. I feel comfortable tutoring anything in middle school and below, and most subjects at the high school level. I got a very good GPA in high school and went to college with many AP credits. The bulk of my tutoring experience has been in SAT preparation. I have tutored 6 different high schooler's for their SAT's with marked improvements in their scores. I myself received a 2260 on my SAT's, with a perfect 800 verbal score on Reading and near perfect 750 on Math, making my score a 1550/1600 on the scale without the writing section that most competitive colleges use. I have developed a system that allows me to zero in on what a student struggles with in the SAT's to help them. I am a recent college graduate from the University of Maryland (May 2014), where I received a double degree in Computer Science and Communication. In my spare time, I ride horses and play volleyball. My most recent SAT tutoring client was able to raise his score over 200 points to achieve a 2320 on his SATs with a perfect score in math and a 790 in reading.

I have 8 years of experience teaching middle and high school. I have worked with students in all subject areas as a support specialist. I have helped students study for Regents exams and have tutored and proctored the SAT.

My name is Keri. I am a new stay at home mom and former Algebra II Teacher. I am certified in the State of Texas to teach Mathematics grades 7-12 with previous experience teaching Algebra II and Geometry. My degree from TWU was in Mathematics with a minor in Finance. Seeing my students' steady progression and diligence toward education and their future is what makes teaching so worth-wild! Some students may not like learning because they don't think they are good at it. However, once you get their mind rolling and confidence soaring - it never stops. Those are the few things that I enjoy about one-on-one tutoring. You get to know the students on a deeper level and their stories. You get to understand their needs and what it takes for their engine to start. A little bit about myself: I have been in the educational field for about 5+ years. I work as a high school English teacher and tutor on the side. Food is my other passion. Both my parents are chefs, so I have been spoiled all my life with amazing delicacy. An inspiring novel or a comical graphic novel is my favorite pastime.

I completed my graduate studies at Columbia University. I graduated with honors as an undergraduate with a BS in neuroscience/biological sciences and a BA in global studies/East Asian Studies/Korean language. I have experience tutoring children and adults, including students who were learning English as a Second Language. I worked as an SAT curriculum developer (verbal and writing) and head SAT instructor at a private tutoring school in Seoul, South Korea and improved my students' scores by as many as 470 points. I also tutored business English for a private company. Additionally, I worked as a 1:1 private English tutor for high school, university, graduate students, and adults and as a freelance editor of public health, epidemiology, natural science, political science, and demography research papers and textbooks. I am proficient in Korean and have experience working with speakers of Asian languages (Japanese and Korean).
