Anthea (Ann as we call her) cared for my father who suffered a stroke from November 2020 until he passed in late December 2020. In that short amount of time, Ann became an extended part of our family. She is a warm and caring individual with a compassionate disposition. Ann was always sensitive to my father's needs and is very knowledgeable and experienced in caring for elderly patients. She is dependable, responsible and was always respectful. Ann was always patient with my father and showed utmost concern for his well being. My brother and I are very thankful to have known Ann and we will forever be grateful for the wonderful care she provided not only to our father but for the kindness and support she showed to our entire family.

I'm Mary! I have 10 years of experience as a teacher, tutor, babysitter, and personal assistant. I am a 2015 graduate of the College of Charleston where I studied biology and Spanish, and was a NCAA Division I swimmer. Professionally, I worked for two years as a high school science teacher at an American School in Morocco. Since re-locating to San Diego I have continued to work in the field of education as a substitute teacher, academic specialist, and 3rd grade pod teacher. I also have extensive experience as a tutor in a variety of subjects, swim and surf instructor, and babysitter. In my free time I am a grad student currently studying epidemiology, and also enjoy surfing and running! I am always excited to connect with new families, so please feel free to reach out!

Mary was hired as a private teacher for our group of 3 girls in a learning pod for the entire 20/21 school year. She was an amazing teacher and not only made sure the girls all learned actively in person, but got them ahead and made what could have been a very hard year one of the best ones they have ever had. She also took the initiative to stay in touch with the girls' teachers each week to communicate and turn in their completed work. We were able to easily keep our kids in the public school system while she taught them the curriculum in person. She made it a very special and wonderful year for our girls! Highly recommend Mary!

Your Favorite Sitter

Hi, my name is Yemile and I'm 22. I am currently active duty in the Navy and have a lot of time on my hands. I live in a gated community and keep my home very clean and simple. I have a 3-month-old son so I'd say babysitting is right up my alley. Since I'm young I'd say that is a pro since I'm very energetic and have a lot of patience. I love arts and crafts, playing games and keeping the young mind busy. Personally I'm a kid at heart but very responsible and disciplined from the military. Aside from keeping your young one entertained, I do believe knowledge is power so I would be on top of schooling, homework and assist with any work if needed. If your child doesn't go to school then I'd still play educational games appropriate for the child or simply put a smile on their face. I'm very understanding and open minded to the way other parents do/ handle certain things if needed. My schedule is flexible. I hope to meet your little one soon! You will not regret having me.

I'm extremely comfortable and happy to leave my kids with Yemile! She was very warm and sweet as soon as she walked through the door. My kids are a handful, so I was very pleased to see she had activities planned out for them and they gave me great feedback about her. I'm very impressed with how reliable she is and she always makes sure to communicate with me when I have to work from the office! Highly recommend.

Experienced Tutor

Responds quickly
I graduated the University of Arizona with a BS in Engineering and minor in Public Health. During my time at the University, I taught a freshman level math course for two semesters and volunteered at a tutoring center in a local elementary school. I have an active Fingerprint card with 10 years of tutoring experience for all grade levels. I enjoy working with students and have a positive attitude and a passion to assist and motivate struggling learners. From personal experience, I've learned that people learn things differently and at different paces; when students struggle with a subject, it's usually because their learning style conflicts with the style or pace with which it is being taught. Tutoring one on one gives the opportunity to learn at the student's optimal pace. Due to COVID-19, I am only offering online during tutoring. In my free time I enjoy practicing yoga, hiking and spending time with my dog.

Alyssa is an amazing tutor! I contacted her about tutoring my 11 year old in math ( a subject she had long been struggling with and had built insecurity around) and in the span of about a year or so Alyssa has helped her build her skills. She has taught her concepts she reviewed in school in different ways to find what worked for my daughter. More importantly, she has tremendously helped improve her confidence. Recently my daughter said she thought she would never be good at math and now she is and couldn't be happier! Thanks Alyssa!
