About Sumati

My name is Sumati, and I also go by Shakthi. I have always loved kids; love contributing to their well-being! I am a physician, trained as an Internal Medicine Doctor and a Pediatrician, I also have a Master of Public Health. I made a career change because of my love of yoga. I moved to California some years ago now and currently have many dedicated students studying yoga with me. I also teach mindfulness, stress reduction, and last year, taught a year-long course. I have decided to take a break from the traditional medical system in order to have a more spiritually and community-centered life. Caring for children feels nourishing and truly brings me joy. Some trainings: leading groups in dance, storytelling and singing. I love babies & kids, have lived with families and cared for babies ever since I was a girl. Went to high school and college and medical school in Texas. Can't wait to meet.
