My prior senior care experience was taking care of my father in law after he suffered a stroke. My wife and I moved him into our home because he did not want to live in a care facility and we wanted him to be taken care of and happy. I received training for ambulatory care / paramedical services from the IHSS dept and from his visiting physician. I enjoyed the time we had and I feel lucky that I was able to be there and take care of him during his final years. I feel that senior care is my calling because I am able to connect with the patients and take great care of them. I also enjoyed the training I received and was given great feedback from the visiting physicians on the level of care I performed and my bedside manner. I have extensive knowledge of how to administer medications (orally, via PICC line and g-tube), g-tube feeding/flushing, all hygiene skills, transporting with a Hoyer lift and physical therapy assistance (I also have experience as a massage therapist).
