I just completed a job caring for a 95-year-old woman who was moved to Memory Care last week. I worked with her for almost a year. The agency I've been working with is a good one, but I would prefer to work independently, if possible. It is less expensive for the client, and more $ for me. I also worked for 3 elderly ladies who lived in assisted living facilities many years ago and I really enjoyed the work.. My Mother passed away 3 years ago and I feel I understand some of the feelings and loss of dignity that occur when a person begins to lose control of their bodies and lives. I am a caregiver by nature, although I am not a nurse or a CNA. I worked the past 18 years in a drug & alcohol residential treatment center and there were women of all ages, (some with physical and mental handicaps), in that setting. I am physically fit and capable of folding, lifting or pushing a wheelchair. I enjoy contributing to people's well being.
