About Mellissa

I have been a tutor of English and Literacy for 10 years. I was an English and P. E teacher in the UK (for grades 7-11), but now am a Professor of Literacy, Language and Culture and work at Judson University and Elgin Community College as a Professor of Literacy/English. My PhD has afforded me the opportunity to become a reading specialist, as well as be a tutor who truly understands and caters to my student's individual needs. I like to help students to set goals and become autonomous learners, and seekers of knowledge. I am a supportive tutor, who respects my students' agency, all whilst pushing them to stretch themselves. I have tutored from 3rd grade to 12th grade students mainly, but also adults.
