About Fane

It is with great pleasure and a high degree of confidence that our family recommends Fane as a caregiver. Fane is an excellent caregiver, very professional, knowledge about her caregiving responsibilities, and extremely compassionate--not to mention that she is a great cook. We are extraordinarily grateful for Fane's contributions to our family. Fane began providing care for my wife, who is in her mid-70's and has dementia, in April 2023. Not long after Fane started working with us, my wife underwent back surgery. Fane visited my wife often in the hospital, helped us prepare for her return home, and ensured that she complied with post-surgery safety restrictions. It didn't take long for Fane to establish a rapport with my wife. Fane was quickly able to learn and read my wife's nonverbal cues and had a keen sense of her changing moods, not pushing her to do things she was uncomfortable doing in the moment. Fane encouraged my wife to help with baking, cooking, and grocery shopping. She identified areas in which my wife could cognitively and physically assist in these activites (pouring pre-measured flour, stirring soup, putting items in the shopping cart, etc.). My wife enjoyed being engaged, encouraged, and involved. Fane is also a self-started. When we explaiend we wanted Fane to keep my wife active, Fane would take her on outins and come up with ideas on her own initiative, including walking on the waterfront, watching dogs at the dog park, getting a manicure, or going shopping, to the bakery, or to Starbucks. They also went on walks in the neighborhood together and would sometimes take our dog along. Fane is trustworthy, reliable, and flexible with her schedule. She is a great communicator, in person, by text, email, and telephone. Fane needed little direction in her caregiving. As noted earlier, she is a great cook. She would prepare meals for us, including beef stir fry, stew, salmon, air-fryer chicken, and spaghetti. It was extremely helpful. Her compassion and patience really shown through as my wife's dementia became more challenging. We consider Fane not only as a caregiver, but more as a member of our extended family. As my wife's condition progressively and significantly declined, our family recently moved her into an adult family home so that she could receive twenty-four hour care. Fane met with the AFH staff to share her experience and provide insight. She has also continued to visit and spend time with my wife in the AFH.
